Wayground x Canvas Integration: Roster Students and Auto-sync Grades

This article enlists the steps teachers should follow after Canvas is integrated with Wayground. To learn about how Administrators integrate Canvas with Wayground, click here.

The Wayground X Canvas integration is available on the Wayground School and District Plans. It makes it easy to share Wayground activities on Canvas, allows students to find and access those activities, and automatically updates the relevant scores in the LMS.

Once you have been onboarded, follow these steps:

1. Click on 'Classes' on the left navigation pane 
2. Click on the Canvas button 
3. Log into Canvas with the same email account that you use on Wayground 
4. Click on 'Authorize' to allow Wayground to sync with Canvas. This is a one-time requirement 
5. Click on the Canvas button, select the classes you would like to import and click on 'Next'
   
   
   
   

Assign Assessments/Quizzes and sync grades:

Once your classes have been imported, you can assign Assessments/Quizzes to them by following these steps:

1. Select the Wayground resource you would like to assign
2. Click on 'Assign homework' 
3. In the game settings menu, click on 'Select' under the 'Assign to a class' section 
4. Select the classes to which you would like to assign the resource. You can also select specific students within the class
   
   
   
   
5. You can choose to give your assignment a title and a description
6. Pick a start time for your session, set the maximum score, and click on 'Save'
7. Review the remaining session settings and click on 'Assign' 

The Wayground resource has now been assigned to your selected Canvas classes. Your students will receive a notification on their Canvas and Wayground accounts and can join the session through the links provided there. 

Once your students attempt the assigned session, their grades will be automatically updated on your Canvas account under ‘Grades’. Share the reports with parents/guardians via Wayground using the ‘Share’ option.

Note:

1. Your LMS is updated when new classes are added. You can access them via Wayground classes. Click on 'Refresh Roster' to import a new class
2. You will need to archive old/inactive classes on Wayground
3. Once deleted, synced Canvas classes on Wayground cannot be recovered. However, they will be saved on Canvas  
4. When syncing classes via integrations with LMSs such as Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, Clever, ClassLink, etc., there is a limit of 5000 students per class.
