Integrate Wayground with Blackboard via LTI as an Administrator

For Administrators

Simplify your classroom workflow by embedding Wayground into Blackboard through LTI! Once connected, students can complete interactive Wayground sessions directly within their Blackboard Learn or Blackboard Learn Ultra courses, which would reduce distractions from switching between the two platforms. Teachers can assign Wayground resources and review grades without leaving Blackboard.

Note

  • This feature is available for users with Wayground Schools & District Plans.
  • If you’ve previously set up the integration:
    • Installations done earlier may still show 'Quizizz LTI' as the tool name in Blackboard. Make sure you delete the existing Quizizz LTI app from Blackboard and install the 'Wayground LTI' app. This will update the tool name to 'Wayground LTI' and ensure a consistent experience.

This article will demonstrate how you can set up this integration as an administrator. Two major steps need to be completed during the setup:

  • Getting the integration links from Wayground
  • Completing the integration on Blackboard

Step 1: Getting the integration links from Wayground

  1. Log in to Wayground
  2. Click the 'Admin Controls' button located in the top left of your screen, then select 'LMS Integrations'
  3. Click on ‘Blackboard’
  4. Go to your Blackboard account in a new browser window and copy the URL. Make sure to exclude anything after '.com'
  5. Go back to Wayground, and paste the copied URL in the 'Enter URL' field. Make sure to exclude anything after '.com'

  6. Click on 'Generate integration'. This will generate the Client ID and the Integration ID
  7. Now, copy these IDs to your clipboard to complete the integration on Blackboard

Step 2: Completing the integration on Blackboard

  1. Go to Blackboard
  2. Click on 'System Admin' from the top navigation pane
  3. Scroll down to the 'Integrations' section and click on 'LTI Tool Providers'
  4. Now, click on 'Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool'
  5. Copy the generated Client ID from Wayground and paste it into the 'Client ID' field on Blackboard

  6. Click on 'Submit'. This will take you to the Administrator panel on Blackboard
  7. Now, scroll down to the 'Tool Status' setting and select 'Approved'
  8. Then, go back to Wayground and copy the generated LTI Integration ID
  9. Come back to Blackboard, and paste this LTI Integration ID into the 'Tool Provider Custom Parameters' field
  10. Now, scroll down to the 'Institution Policies' section
  11. For 'User fields to send' settings, check (☑️) the boxes next to 'Role in Course' and 'Name'
  12. Select 'Yes' for 'Allow Grade Service Access'
  13. Select 'Yes' for 'Allow Membership Service Access'

  14. Finally, click on 'Submit'

Wayground has been successfully embedded into your Blackboard platform! You can verify the integration by checking the 'LTI Tool Providers' page on Blackboard to see if Wayground is listed among the LTI tools.

Once the integration is complete, teachers can assign Wayground resources directly to their Blackboard Learn and Blackboard Learn Ultra courses.

Important

  • Only teachers rostered on Wayground as part of your Wayground Schools & District plans can use the Wayground–Blackboard LTI integration. Teachers not rostered and attempting to link a Wayground LTI resource in a Blackboard course will receive a message prompting them to get rostered on the plan to access the Blackboard integration.
